How To Uncrease Timberland Boots?

Getting creases on your Timberland boots doesn’t mean you cannot wear them anymore. They indeed look bad, but you can easily fix the creases.

You will find tons of methods to uncrease leather boots on the web, but most don’t work and sometimes even damage the boots.

That’s why I have tried and tested several methods on my Timberland boots and came up with the most successful way that removes the creases from the boots without ruining them.

Here are the methods to get rid of creases from Timberland boots:

Method 1: Use Iron and Towel (Most Effective)

  • Remove the laces from your boots, so they don’t get in the way of eliminating the crease.
  • If your boots are filthy, first clean them. Brush the boots well with a horsehair brush to release the dirt particles. Allow the boots to dry after wiping them off with a damp cloth.

After cleaning the boots, you can begin uncreasing them.

  • To make the boots taut, stuff them with socks, old t-shirts, or a towel.
  • Soak a clean white towel in water and then wring it out.
  • Place the damp cloth over the wrinkled part of the boots and run the iron over it.
  • Slide the iron back and forth for 20-30 seconds on the creased areas.

Don’t hold the hot iron in one place for a long time, as the heat dries up the leather too much and may burn it.

  • When you iron a damp towel, it dries quickly. As a result, you may need to wet the towel several times.
  • Do not iron directly on the boots without a damp towel; this can cause the boots to burn.
  • It will take time to smooth out the creases, so be patient.

Spray water-repellent spray or apply a leather conditioner to the boots after the creases are no longer apparent. Conditioning avoids over-drying since ironing removes the boots’ natural oil.

  • Let the boots dry completely before you wear them.

Method 2: Use Rubbing Alcohol

  • Take the laces off the boots.
  • To eliminate the grime, thoroughly wipe the boots with a brush and a moist cloth.
  • In a spray bottle, combine equal parts water and rubbing alcohol and mix vigorously.

Avoid using too much rubbing alcohol since it can dry up the leather and cause it to break apart.

  • Spray the wrinkled area with the alcohol solution and massage it with your fingertips.

Instead of using excessive pressure when massaging, apply the diluted rubbing alcohol in gentle circular motions.

  • As you massage the solution, you will observe that the leather absorbs the majority of it.

Allow the boots to dry thoroughly.

  • Finish by adding a layer of leather conditioner to keep the leather moisturized and supple.

Method 3: Use Leather Oil

  • Start the process by removing the shoelaces and giving the boots a nice brush so that all the dirt is gone.
  • Buy leather oil according to the material of your boots.
  • Apply a few drops of leather oil to the creased part of the boots and massage the oil on the boots well.

Remember, do not apply too much oil on the first go, or you can stain the boots.

  • You can place your hand inside the boots and put little pressure on the creases, and massage it again with the oil.
  • Let the boots sit for a few minutes so that all the oil can be absorbed into the boots.
  • With a lint-free cloth, wipe off the excess oil from the boots.
  • Dry the boots in an airy place.

And there you go, your Timberland boots are free of creases.

Why Timberland Boots Crease In The First Place?

Leather boots crease in the same manner as skin wrinkles at a certain age. Timberland boots are nothing different; they crease too once they become aged.

However, the creasing of your boots may take place quicker due to various reasons.

The walking style is the main reason for Timberland boots creasing. When you walk, the leather bends as your feet move. When the sole of the boot flexes continually, new creases appear from time to time.

Another explanation for creases is the quality of the boot’s material. The poorer the quality of the material, the faster the boots will wrinkle, and vice versa.

Improperly fitting; generally, loose-fitting boots crease easily. The additional space is compressed excessively, resulting in the formation of a crease.

Finally, storing the boots incorrectly results in increases. If nothing is inserted inside the boots to retain their form, they will eventually crease.

How To Prevent Timberland Boots From Creasing?

Today or tomorrow, your Timberland boots will crease. However, by following a few simple guidelines, you can delay the time of your Timberland boots creasing.

Here are the ways to prevent Timberland boots from creasing:

  • Insert a shoe tree inside the boots and say bye-bye to creases. The shoe tree helps the boots to maintain their shape.
  • Avoid buying boots that are too big for your feet. Always purchase boots that are a perfect fit for your feet.
  • Unclean boots are prone to developing creases. To avoid this, regularly clean your boots after each usage to ensure that dirt does not accumulate.
  • Creasing is expected when the boots are overly dry. As a result, after cleaning your boots, use a leather conditioner to keep them moist.
  • Do not dry your leather boots through a heating source, as this excessively dries up leather and creases all over the boots.
