Upper Material & Design

Adidas Takumi Sen 8 uses celermesh as the upper material. 50% of the textile upper is made from recycled materials.

It’s incredibly lightweight and very breathable. The cushioning is soft and feels very snug.

The tongue is thick, perforated, and provides a sock-like fit. It contains six regular design eyelets and an additional tongue loop for better stability.

The foam around the forefoot and vamp gives me comfort, especially when I sprint or run a long distance.

Takumi Sen 8 comes in three colors: Grey Six, Cloud White, and Core Black.

On the other hand, Adidas Adizero Adios 6 uses an Engineered Mesh on the upper material. The synthetic overlay offers a balance of breathability and balance.

The tongue is not perforated, but the thin material provides good air circulation.

The cushioning isn’t soft enough and feels firm after putting on Takumi Sen 8. But, the synthetic suede and inner sleeve give good support while running long distances.

Adios 6 appears in Cloud White, Core Black, and Solar Red designs. Also, a floral pattern covers the medial side and toe box to give an aesthetic appearance.

Comparatively, the Takumi Sen 8 feels better to run with because of the soft cushioning and thick tongue.

Insole, Midsole & Outsole

For a running shoe, the sole is the most crucial part. It decides how you will perform in a race or marathon. The sole is divided into three parts: insole, midsole, and outsole.

Insole

Both Takumi Sen 8 and Adios 6 use EVA foam insoles for a responsive feel.

Adizero Adios 6 has a removable insole. I can easily change it after a sweaty session or purchase an after-market insole. Also, it allows a person with foot problems to use orthotics insoles.

Unfortunately, Takumi Sen 8 doesn’t have a removable insole. So, there’s no way to use an aftermarket or orthotics insole.

Adidas has taken this step to prevent slipping when running at a maximum speed.

Midsole

The midsole is where the actual magic happens in Adidas runner shoes.

Takumi Sen 8 uses Lightstrike Pro in the entire midsole. The Energy Rods are implemented into this section.

The energy rods in the midsole propel forward with each stride. Running feels comfortable and effortless, saving my energy for the longer distance.

On the other hand, Adios 6 uses a combination of Lightstrike and Lightstrike Pro in the midsole.

Lightstrike covers the heel area, whereas Lightstrike Pro is spread in the forefeet area.

But sadly, there are no carbon plates or energy rods in the midsole area.

Outsole

Takumi Sen 8 and Adios 6 both use Continental Rubber outsole. But their patterns are entirely different.

The outsole in TS 8 is divided into separate segments. The lateral side and heel of the outsole are flat. The medial side of the forefoot area has a smooth lug pattern for traction and better grip.

On the other hand, the Adios 6’s outsole is divided into four parts. The lugs have a smooth pattern that gives my feet a good grip on the road.

The forefoot and heel area is connected with the Torsion System to support the midfoot area.

Size & Fit

Takumi Sen 8 and Adios 6 follow a true-to-size fit. So, there’s nothing to worry about the perfect fitting.

But in my usage, I have found the Takumi Sen 8 runs big compared to the Adios 6.

The slightly longer shape gives me space to wiggle my finger.

You can purchase a half-size small version of the Takumi Sen 8 to reduce the front space and get a tight fit.

On the other hand, Adios 6 is slightly narrower compared to TS8. Most average feet like me will easily fit into the shoe.

However, if you have wider feet, Takumi Sen 8 will be a better choice.

Now, let’s talk about shoe height. Running at full speed depends significantly on the stack height and heel-to-toe drop.

The stack height of Takumi Sen 8 is slightly higher than Adios 6. It gives more cushioning in the sole and gives good support while running.

Weight Comparison

Weight is a crucial factor in competitive running or marathons. More weight gradually reduces the energy. So it’s better to use lightweight shoes for running.

During the Boston Marathon, I ran with the Adizero Takumi Sen 8.

After starting the race, I immediately felt the massive weight differences that helped me complete the race in a good position.

Stability & Support

Keeping one stable during the run is essential. A slightly unsteady position can injure the person in an explosive sprint or long run.

When it comes to straight roads, Takumi Sen 8 shows excellent capabilities and nimbleness.

But on a zigzag road or during a turn, TS 8 feels very unstable. The lateral side of the outsole is flat. Therefore, it can’t grip very well in those circumstances.

On the contrary, Adios 6 has a good grip on the right side because of the outsole design.

So, it feels much easier to take a corner, and my feet get good support from the shoe.

The pronation is neutral for both Takumi Sen 8 and Adios 6. But TS8 bends more compared to Adios 6.

It’s suitable for running at a faster speed. But at the same time, it can be a reason for frequent injury.

Durability & Performance

Durability and performance are the deciding factors in competitive running shoes.

Takumi Sen 8 is very durable, thanks to the Lightstrike Pro.

I’ve run over 400 miles with TS 8, and the shoe is still in perfect condition. The outsole is slightly worn out, but it’s very normal.

The insole is still intact, and the cushioning still holds my feet firmly.

On the other hand, the Adidas Adios 6 is durable but not as much compared to the Takumi Sen 8.

Lightstrike is stiff and starts to wear out after 200 miles.

But the real difficulty is the shoe has a 50-mile braking period, which is quite long for a running shoe.

Apart from that, the insoles and cushioning are excellent and serve my feet pretty well.

The Lightstrike Pro and Energy Rods give a good performance in the Takumi Sen 8.

The combination of Lightstrike Pro and Lightstrike in the Adios 6 is good but not the best in comparison.

Adidas Takumi Sen 8 requires 18W less energy and gives two additional steps per minute compared to Adios 6.

It creates a massive difference in the long run with your energy and distance.

Pricing is a deciding factor in purchasing a shoe.

There’s a big difference between the price of Takumi Sen 8 and Adios 6.

The price has a difference of around $60.

Moreover, Adidas frequently gives discounts on Adios 6, making it more affordable.
